This project investigates beliefs about the spirit world held by members of the Church of the Nazarene in Hong Kong, comparing them with beliefs of the non-Christian population. Drawing on principles of ethnographic research developed by James P Spradley, the project conducts oral interviews in Cantonese, finding influence from common understandings of the spirit world among Christians and a more general secularization of worldview in contemporary Hong Kong.
