Abstract
  • This project examines the importance of a minister's personhood to effective exercise of three primary facets of parish ministry--preaching, pastoral care, and congregational leadership. The project focuses on men, but in the light of the entry of women into ministry. Drawing on personal experiences and the observations of numerous commentators, the project concludes that the fulness of the minister's humanity, including weaknesses and failures, must be honestly and constructively engaged to enable the establishment of meaningful relationships and powerful agency for change in a parish setting.
