  • This project sought to unite Southampton Presbyterian Church of St. Louis, Missouri, with its geographical community using principles of congregationally-based community organizing. A series of house and one-on-one meetings were conducted with the congregation and the community to model the action-reflection-action principle of community organizing. A new model of ministry, specifically a seven-ministry model, replaced the committee structure of the Session. As a result, over ninety percent of the congregation believed that they knew themselves and their community in deeper ways.
