  • The purpose of this thesis was to discover beliefs about and prevalence of physical healing as a complete or partial result of prayer in 'Main Line' Protestant denominations. This thesis analyzes 201 questionnaires submitted by parishioners of ten 'Main Line' congregations in southern New Hampshire/Northeastern Massachusetts. The findings were that all but two respondents believed in healing through prayer though they differed about its frequency, and that a sizable minority reported experiencing healing. Such belief in and experience of such healing was generally consistent across various demographic categories. Recommendations to pastors and suggestions for future research are made.
