  • The relationship between church and parachurch ministries has often been more competitive than cooperative. The church's response to paralocal ministries can range from guarded appreciation to hostility, limiting the potentiality for the church of new missional engagement and the parachurch of connectionalism and accountability. The emerging understanding of missio Dei provides opportunity for growth. This study seeks a documented and experiential framework by reviewing a candidacy and call approval process in a local presbytery to determine whether and how the church should engage with parachurch ministry. It offers a story for alongside ministries seeking to connect with local presbyteries.
