- The purpose of this ministry project was to determine if a program could be established and implemented to assimilate new members better so that the drop-out rate of members during their second and third years of membership would be reduced. Chapter 2 presents theological, sociological, and psychological ideas that are foundational for ministry with new members. Chapter 3 summarizes the preliminary study conducted with active, inactive, and former members. It also details preparatory work with deacons, Sunday school leadership, and the church at-large to lead the church into this ministry. Chapter 4 presents the design and implementation of the new members orientation class which was the central element through which new members participated to become better assimilated. Chapter 5 discusses the conclusions and evaluation of the program.
