  • This project designs a church management system structured upon the marketing management model for congregationally governed churches, but primarily for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The purpose is to develop more precision in understanding the mission of the church and to provide a more systematic approach for accomplishing the mission founded upon the commissioning statements of our Lord, 'Go' and 'Follow me'. An extensive training program for the development of the elders was established covering the areas of being called, history, teaching, flocking, prayer, creative listening, leadership, and gifts and talents. The foundation undergirding this study was learning responsibility and accountability. A mission statement was developed through a study group addressing four basic questions: 1) what is the church; 2) what is the function of the church; 3) what is the purpose of the church; and 4) what is the church's reason to be?
