  • The study designed and evaluated a Christian rite of passage for adolescent boys and their fathers. The hypotheses: 1) adolescent boys have a vague understanding of what they are to accomplish in adolescence; 2) father/father figure interaction with an adolescent boy will enhance a boy's male sex-role identity; 3) teaching the developmental tasks will clarify the boy's understanding of what they are to accomplish; 4) public recognition as 'young men' will solidify their purpose in life. Small group teaching and interaction were combined with father-to-son teaching. The project was evaluated descriptively, theologically, and by objective tests. A Christian rite of passage was administered. Hypothesis one was not validated, two was inconclusive, three and four were validated. No dysfunctional families participated in the project.
