Abstract
  • This project was an attempt to make contact with every known inactive member of the church and evaluate the potential of reclaiming them. The method of research was to train a group of volunteers in skills for confronting inactive members and evaluate the effectiveness of the training with a pre-test and post-test. The contacts were evaluated by sending a survey to those contacted. The project resulted in 24 percent of the members returning to church at least once. The author concluded that a better solution to the problem of inactivity was to be more effective in assimilating new church members.
