- Subtitle: With special reference to the descendents of indentured labourers from South Asia. The practice of ministry in a congregation made up of people of a variety of ethnic origins will encounter problems resulting from ethnic and cultural differences. In order for the congregation to be integrated into a working and worshipping whole, these differences must be identified and appreciated. In-depth interviews of eight family units chosen from the traditional congregation and recent-comers from Guyana were conducted, followed by three group meetings. Transcripts were analysed, and the findings compared with the experience of similar congregations. Three primary factors were identified: ethnicity, immigration experience, and dialogue.
