- Abstract
- This project proposes a team-building approach to leadership in a seminar for pastoral staff and lay leaders of Wheaton Evangelical Free Church (Wheaton, Ill). In an evaluation following the seminar participants conclude that a hierarchical management style stifles and hinders full involvement and cooperation between leaders and followers; lack of involvement and ownership by followers is a major drawback of hierarchical management; withholding information and insisting that people do what has to be done without adequate explanation destroys motivation and renders people ineffective. A team-building management style results in greater cooperation, involvement, commitment, communication, and consensus.
