  • This project was designed to proactively deal with the devastation incoming pastors and affected congregations face as a result of unwanted pastoral succession in the churches of the itinerant ministry tradition--specifically the A. M. E. Zion Church. Proactive methodology in research tested the hypothesis that churches having an Episcopal form of government must find creative ways to empower their congregation to deal with unwanted change. Through implementation, the test group moved from powerlessness to problem solving through a series of workshops combining conflict resolution with biblically based historical and practical education components.
