- The comparative case study focused on the pulpit's effect on nonverbal communication in preaching. Ninety-one subjects were given the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and randomly divided into two groups composed of approximately equal members of SJs, NFs, NTs and SPs. Group 2 viewed soundless videos of five sermon illustrations which had one central emotion while Group 1 viewed the same five videos with a pulpit superimposed in front of the preacher. Based on the margin of error statistics, the results showed that the subjects viewing the videos without the pulpit had a tendency to be more accurate.
