- Abstract
- The thesis of this dissertation is that through narrative exegesis of the book of Ruth and its applications in pastoral ministry we may learn to experience God's faithfulness and blessings and to restore the magnificence of God's creation of man and woman in his image and likeness so as to make life abundant in God's presence. The research methodology is as follows. First of all the literary analysis of narrative forms will be explained. Since the Book of Ruth is of the story type, exegesis of this book through the narrative form seems to be a very good method used. Then, the elements of narrative are used in interpreting the Book of Ruth. Finally, we will explain how to apply the life stories of the main characters as told in the analyzed narrative of the Book of Ruth to the situations people confront today. By studying the Book of Ruth we see that there was a creator, a guide and a redeemer, who established a relationship on the basis of 'covenant' and 'love' with plain people who had trust in Him.
