  • The purpose of the project was to see if the relationship skills of selected members of Crescent Hill Baptist Church could be made more inviting by teaching them William W Purkey's invitational model. A historical, biblical and theological study of the doctrine of the image of God was conducted in order to undergird the concept of human worth as taught in Purkey's model. The social and psychological foundations for the invitational model are also investigated. A control group and an experimental group each consisting of twenty people were selected from the church. The experimental group was taught Purkey's model. Pre/post-tests were given to each group. The post-test revealed that the experimental group had become more inviting. The results seem to indicate that church members can be made more inviting by teaching them Purkey's model.
