Conflict is a given fact of life in the local church. Southern Baptist churches have a special vulnerability in conflict situations, in that the polity by which they operate precludes outside ecclesiastical intervention. The purpose of this project is to suggest that churches place in their constitutions and bylaws an agreed-upon-in-advance procedure for conflict management and resolution. By processing the potential for conflict and developing procedures to address it, valuable time and precious fellowship can be conserved. What may be humankind's two most basic instincts, denial and the fight/flight syndrome, can be made inoperative.
