  • The purpose of this study is to present an analysis of key developmental issues faced by newly planted congregations. More specifically, this dissertation reveals the need for a contextual model for the development of effective prayer and outreach in the new church. The author conducted a thorough examination of literary sources in the area of new church development. Current church growth research was also studied. In addition, the author drew upon effective, contextual models developed and implemented in pastoral ministry. In conclusion, this study presents a practical strategy for the development of effective prayer and outreach ministries in new churches.
