- Prospect Presbyterian Church identified burnout and a lack of volunteers as a growing problem in the congregation. Weber's bureaucracy provides a lens to explore the congregation's current organizational self-understanding. Then, the study employs Lathrop's primary symbol of assembly to design and introduce a new structure. Church members were interviewed before and after the training to assess shifts in their organizational self-understanding.
