The author sought to provide laypersons an orientation to the use of brief solution-focused counseling techniques. Research involved interviews with solution-focused therapists, plus extensive reading. Results of the project revealed that laypersons could gasp this mode of counseling. Such an orientation could provide a basis for initiating a lay counseling center.
