Abstract
  • The idea for this major project arose in 1977 when I became dissatisfied with the adult education ministry program at St Paul Lutheran Church. The project became a reality in 1981. It was designed to fulfill two goals: 1. to articulate my theological understanding of the relationship between the church's educational ministry and its pastoral ministry of faith development; 2. to develop a three year program of adult education rooted in that theological understanding. The method of study included: classes, readings, Christian education committee work and the parish life and ministry development process. For the congregation the project resulted in: 1. an opportunity to plan and implement a three year adult education program; 2. a booklet which outlines the educational ministry program and presents the theological goals, and statements which undergird the curriculum.
