Abstract
  • To be most effective, the church must seek to understand the West Indian people from their cultural origins and aid in their adaptation to the cultural context. A questionnaire is intended to highlight factors, both positive and negative, affecting self-determination. A survey of one hundred fifty people will be conducted and literature reviewed. This project highlights issues affecting West Indians and the role of the church in facilitating that drive towards self-determination. The church provides constancy and stability in spite of depersonalizing elements of social change and cross-cultural conflict.
