Abstract
  • The researcher sought to raise cross-cultural competence in leaders through a three-pronged strategy of mentoring, teaching, and ministry experience in an urban, multicultural congregation. During the ten-week teaching module, developed by the researcher, seventeen participants engaged in learning experiences and assignments designed to increase their self-awareness in cross-cultural encounters and their understanding of culture. The three-pronged strategy was shown to be effective for raising cross-cultural competence in the analysis of two inventories administered before and after the course.
