  • The Disciples of Christ have never developed a cohesive program of continuing education for their clergy. The denomination must move from marketing the services of its seminaries to continuing education driven by the needs of clergy. Included is research by Barbara Wheeler of Auburn Theological Seminary of New York into the educational practices of 'innovators' and 'pacesetters.' Correlation is shown between the faith stage of clergy using the interview designed by James W Fowler and the type and style of continuing education they choose. The current structures of the denomination are used to deliver education to clergy.
