  • The purpose of this study was to determine how regions in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) fulfill their responsibilities in the process of preparation of persons for ordination. The paper looks at the denomination's congregational and presbyterial roots and its present structure in which regions have responsibility for authorizing ordinations. The paper surveys and analyzes current practices of the 36 regions and makes recommendations to enhance the role of congregations in the process. The final chapter suggests ways that region and congregation may cooperate during the candidacy of prospective ministers.
