- Abstract
- The preaching of the doctrine of entire sanctification in the Church of the Nazarene has for so long been focused on the structure of the doctrine, that the broader doctrine of holiness has been hindered among our people. The structure of the doctrine of entire sanctification, which focuses on personal experience, is too grounded in the past experiences of others. This leaves the preacher to try and bring others into a foreign experience or convince them they really have had the experience the preacher is referring to. This thesis will provide a fresh metaphor for understanding the doctrine of entire sanctification along with two hermeneutical approaches that will be pivotal for the preacher of doctrine. The metaphor and the two hermeneutical tools will center upon the prominence of personal experience as a theological tool.
