Abstract
  • Using the horrific shootings at Virginia Tech in April 2007 as a catalyst, the author explores and clarifies the essence of faithful pastoral leadership with police officers who have known violence and trauma, an all too frequent occurrence in our culture. This project intends to deepen theological reflection and encourage faithful pastoral ministry with these public servants who are too often underpaid, under-appreciated, and forgotten amidst the turmoil. As agents of God's love, healing, and peace, pastoral leaders and congregations can convey both short-term and long-term support and direction for police officers.
