  • This model was designed to address the fit of a pastor for a pastorate and the need of pastors to assess the context of new pastorates. Tools for evaluating personal traits and gifts, discussion with Episcopal or Search Committees, influences of present or previous pastor, staff, lay leadership, worship, Christian education, youth and faith traditions, were created and utilized. Assessment tools were used to measure how a pastor could revaluate and begin to lead change in a congregation during the first year of ministry in the new context. The tools were then evaluated with suggestions for change. Finally a process of bringing new vision and action was demonstrated for Petoskey United Methodist church, Petoskey, Michigan.
