  • The dynamic of authority that lies between the pastor and congregation relationship in something that will need to be discussed, negotiated, and will evolve over time. The significant time period for the establishment of this relationship, is during the first two years of a pastor's new charge. As church and pastor get to know each, the pastor will need to discover the limits of his authority and establish the most effective means of influencing the church towards a common goal. This study explores the pastor's beliefs, experiences and issues in this unique and non-repeatable time in church.
