  • This is an exploratory study of the interaction of women and religious institutions regarding employment and ordination in ministry. The study was limited to 69 women respondents who represent ten denominations. Data was gathered through written questionnaires distributed by mail. Results indicate that the ordination and employment process is difficult for women. 74 percent report being hurt in their search for employment and ordination and 50 percent have run into discriminatory practices. Despite this they have positive feelings toward their denomination and exhibit an extremely positive view of themselves and their ability to perform ministry.
