- In just forty years, Scotland has become a secular society and the church has become marginalised. The communities that once sustained a sense of belonging have withered or have become merely places to live. This project looks at Scotland's evolving post-modern society and the fragmentation that has accompanied it. The paper seeks to suggest ways in which New Charges can offer communities of faith that can become places where people may find companionship, purpose and faith. It draws from biblical accounts of community and the early church and using missional church models explores how the church can express itself to an age and a people anxious to discover community.
