- Abstract
- Based upon research conducted with 150 members who recently joined this congregation, the author explores factors which contribute to their incorporation into meaningful membership. Those indicating 'very strong' sense of belonging identified several motivating factors: strong worship and educational life; theological diversity; personal initiative toward getting involved; the feeling that the Christian faith--as expressed in this congregation--makes a significant difference in one's life; and that each member has some opportunity to affect the congregation's life. Bibliography and primary research are included as well as self-study questions for other congregations.
