  • This doctoral dissertation attempts to organize and assess perceptions of the Holy Spirit in terms of the categories established by the World Council of Churches' Seventh Assembly in 1991. Questionnaires were submitted to participants in the colloquies, a grassroots theological community of discourse, worship and testimony established in 1984 by members of the United Church of Christ. The twenty-seven responses defined the Holy Spirit as creator, counselor, reconciler and sanctifier, then supplied examples of experiences at Colloquy events in which the Holy Spirit was discerned to be at work.
