  • This thesis-project considers the Lasallian Volunteer Program in which post-college young people live in community with Christian Brothers doing ministry with them, and explores the presence of mentoring, mutuality and discipleship. Through interviews, participant observation and the Whiteheads' method of theological reflection, the author places the experience of the interviewees in dialogue with aspects of US culture, post-Vatican II understanding of lay ministry, and Lasallian Spirituality. He uncovers the need for training for transition and theological reflection. The author suggests a model of theological reflection, re-framing and re-naming what is being done in connection to broader Christian tradition.
