Abstract
  • This project proposes that a teaching pastor in a faith-mentoring relationship with parishioners achieves a correct model of adult Christian education. As the pastor proclaims the Christian narrative, members of the faith community interpret and reinterpret God's purposes for them. Then pastor and community respond to what they have learned through appropriate acts of ministry. The project finds its theoretical base in an education theory called andragogy, while exploring educational, theological, and biblical perspectives for proclamation and faith mentoring. As responsiblities of pastor and parish are clarified, a pastor's teaching role is enhanced.
