Abstrait
  • A conceptual analysis of the religious formation process from an analytical psychological viewpoint is described. This analysis employs the concept of addiction, especially in its symbolic meaning. Archetypal addiction is to dedicate, consecrate, and devote to the gods. The archetype of addiction has been split. We see this splitting especially in the areas of extroversion-introversion, persona-shadow, and animus-anima. A sense of the real comes through the healing of these splits. In living a genuine addiction, religious persons open themselves to the power of symbolic transformation.
