  • This thesis describes how lay volunteer caregivers may conduct an effective spiritual ministry among the dying in this modern era of secularity and technology. Medical treatment and Christian spirituality fulfill the intention of God when they minister in a Christ-like way to terminally ill persons. The Divine Creator is incarnate in the humanity and suffering of Jesus Christ; hence, secular medical science and spiritual ministry both provide qualitative value and unified reality as healing and comforting symbolization of God's abiding love now and eternally. Research was based on interviews and questionnaires addressed to professional and lay caregivers ministering to terminally ill persons.
