- Abstract
- This dissertation will investigate Paul's three sermons in Acts: Acts 13:14-41 (Antioch in Pisidia); Acts 14:15-23 (Lystra); Acts 17:16-34 (Athens) in order to inform churches how to biblically contextualize the gospel in 21st century North America. The terms 'gospel,' 'kerugma,' and 'contextualization' will be defined and delineated. Examining Paul's sermons in Acts with those by the early Apostles (Acts 2:14-42; 3:12-26) a unified threefold rhetorical methods and message is discovered. Finally, an evaluation of how these sermons have shaped the message of evangelism in the 21st century is presented with recommendations for pastors.
