  • People come to worship hungering for an encounter with God in which God is revealed--an epiphany. In worship God acts and, enabled by the Spirit, worshipers respond. The congregation gathers expectantly, hoping to be embraced by a faithful God. This project articulates a Reformed theology and then examines worship from that theological perspective, exploring the content of worship, the shape of worship, and the conduct of worship. The presider's role is of crucial importance. Presiding poorly can impede the congregation's encounter with God. Presiding well will foster it.
