  • The author seeks to determine current needs in extension study materials for the church in Africa. She provides a history and evaluation of the TEXT-Africa series of books and a summary of current African development in politics, economics, education, and theology. A replication of research done in 1980 summarizes life needs of church members, and fresh research provides information on training needs of church leaders. The author determines seven further texts needed at the functional literacy level, as well as materials at the pre-literacy, secondary, and university level. She proposes plans for developing these.
