  • The purpose of this project thesis was to develop a process by which a traditionally Euro-American congregation located in the third largest urban area of South Carolina could be enabled to hear and respond to God's call for them to be engaged in urban ministry. The biblical and theological foundations section of this paper is an attempt to show how God has demonstrated a preference for the poor and the oppressed and how the urban church is called to do the same in its ministry. Methods of evaluating the present ministry of the church, looking at the other identified needs of the congregation and approaches to understanding and responding to the needs of the community in which the church is located are presented.
