  • This dissertation is a theological study of the program of Alcoholics Anonymous told from the viewpoint of a recovered alcoholic. By reviewing the pietist roots of AA and noting the similarities between the twelve steps of AA and the faith/values implicit in liberation theology, it seeks to answer the question: what is the relationship between the Christian faith and the faith path of Alcoholics Anonymous? it suggests a common ground can be found in the path of the mystic, and concludes that AA is a legitimate expression of spirituality that can be accepted and trusted by anyone, including Christians.
