  • The goal of this project was to develop a conceptual and practical understanding of ministry leadership in new congregation development, with special reference to the concerns of a clergywoman as one not traditionally perceived as a leader. The method is a dialogical approach between case study experience of the writer and research of available literature, particularly feminist and liberation theology and social science approaches to leadership. Alternative understandings of leadership are explored, along with issues of power and authority. Case study and reflection are organized topically around four issues in leadership practice: vision, shaping organizational culture, empowerment, and the person of the leader.
