Abstrait

The thesis is that the Habitat-church relationship is mutually beneficial especially as strengths and weaknesses are better understood. The proposed strengths are that the relationship provides a tangible way of expressing faith, that it provides an avenue of cooperation and heightened ecumenism, and that it provides a way to overcome racial barriers. The proposed weaknesses are that the relationship may be hindered by a church's sense of territoriality, by a church's financial constraints, and by the immensity of the housing problem. The study reviews critical foundations, both biblical and theological, that undergird the ministry of Habitat for Humanity as it partners with local churches. The research discloses more strengths and weaknesses and discounts some of the thesis.
