Meeting with a spiritual director can clarify and empower the preaching of the gospel. Work with the spiritual director, the personal reflection time each day, the forming of the sermon, and the evaluation by a parish advisory committee were recorded in a daily journal. The author read to inform himself of spiritual direction and how present-day Christian scholars understand the role of spiritual direction. The result of the study is that the author has made a change in his sermon preparation. The personal journal, as well as minutes and interviews, indicates that the change has positively impacted his preaching.
