Abstract
  • This project traces a successful attempt to find a bond and affinity between the theory and therapy of the object relations school of psychoanalysis and the historic Christian faith. The author was originally struck by the religious terminology which illustrated significant portions of the clearest expression of object relations thought by Ronald Fairbairn. More recent authors, namely Sheldon Cashdan and Frank Lake, have also been examined to reveal further development. The author shows how both object relations thinking and profound resources within the Christian faith can strengthen the counseling which pastors and other Christian counselors are doing.
