  • The premise of the study is that how the Bible is understood to reveal God has an impact on how the Bible is interpreted. The premise is supported by analyzing Schleiermacher, Henry, Barth, McFague, Sobrino and Schüssler Fiorenza. The study proceeds by giving a brief biographical sketch of each theologian, then her/his approach to the revealed nature of Scripture is described and an example of his/her use of Scripture is analyzed. The outcomes of each approach are demonstrated by using them to interpret John 4. The study concludes with a method for analyzing a theologian's view of Scripture.
