  • Fifteen years of pastoral ministry research revealed an alarmingly low level of parishioner biblical knowledge. Few possessed a basic understanding of theological issues distinctive to the Wesleyan tradition of the Church of the Nazarene. This project centered on determining a basic approach to establish a definitive Christian Education ministry in local churches with lay education volunteers. A catechism developed for Nashville Tennessee First Church of the Nazarene served as the primary teaching instrument. Lay educational leaders at the Church of the Nazarene in Sulphur Springs, Texas comprised the participants in the fourteen-week teaching series.
