Over the years an atmosphere of mistrust has developed between the pastoral role and the First Christian Church in Belvedere, South Carolina. An effort to build a trust relationship had to begin. To accomplish this, the congregation had to understand the pastor in certain images. These images, servant, child, friend, and partner, would be topics of sermons describing the congregation and pastor. This understanding would assure the acceptance of pastor and congregation. The enlistment of a small response group of church members and a spiritual mentor proved to be helpful. A trust relationship among some members has begun.
