  • The author studies the scriptural, confessional, and historical witness to every Sunday communion. He also did a synod-wide survey of all LCMS pastors to determine current practices and attitudes concerning the frequency of offering the Lord's Supper. The results showed that the Lord's Supper was at the center of weekly worship in scripture and in the first three centuries in the early church. The results also showed a recovery of this understanding in the Lutheran Reformation. The study concluded by considering the richness of this treasure and practical ways to help overcome objections to its recovery.
