- Abstract
- Noting the existence of scriptural, linguistic dichotomies between 'comfort and reconciliation' and between 'grief and estrangement' the author uses Jesus' reconciling ministry to the marginalized and oppressed as the basis for grief recovery ministry. The 'instituted' means of grace (i.e. prayer, fasting, Bible study, fellowship, and Holy Communion) then serve as cornerstones in developing a resource which is evaluated and refined through use in two, six-session seminars offered to separate groups of fourteen members. The author concludes that the group resource is a useful tool in providing Christian ministry to those who mourn.
